Pre Season Going Ons
26
With race season getting close it makes sense to update you on some team items, events, and going ons! You will notice new photo galleries have been added. These are a review on some things that have happened with the G1 Racing Team as of late.
I dropped in some photos of the Genesis Coupes being rebuilt. Basically the cars from last year proved to be very uncompetitive and once we were allowed to have a good look at the cars at Butch Hyton’s BKB2 Motorsports shop in Mooresville NC, we realized we had a lot more on the plate than suspected.
The cars, #87 and 88, were placed in a windtunnel and shaker rig where it was discovered the suspension and aerodynamics of the cars were poorly designed and constructed. After a few weeks of redesign and fabrication the cars are ready for their new engines being built by JB Performance in Toronto. The photos you see are from the shop in Mooresville. Both cars will be ready for testing May 7th.
The graphics concept you see is how the cars will look. Awesome design incorporating our Castrol and Auto Trader partners.
The 3rd car, #86 is being built in partnership with JL Racing, BKB2 Motorsports, and JB Performance. After discovering the issues with 87 and 88, Damon Sharpe has come up with a new design and direction for 86. The car will debut early in the 2010 Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship season. Stay tuned for more on this.
Finally, it was our pleasure to be invited to attend the Vaisakhi Banquet in support of the Cardiology Department of the Etobicoke General Hospital. G1 Racing is a partner with the William Osler Health Centre Foundation and we offered a lucky guest the opportunity to become a member of the G1 Racing team for the Streets of Toronto race in July. Andrew Burns was the winner and he gets to suit up with the crew and work on getting the Hyundai Genesis Coupes to the front at the race.
The night was filled with great Indian music, dancing, and of course great food. My kids and I along with Damon and his wife Sandy had a great time and we were so proud to help raise the thousands of dollars needed to keep our health care system a proud part of this great country!
